The Tempered Rose is more than just a chocolate company; it’s a passion project nearly a decade in the making, born from a cherished family tradition of hand-crafted, artisanal confections.​My name is Maddie, and the seed for this company was planted by my incredible great-grandmother, Mary Rose - a true firecracker who first introduced me to the exquisite art of fine chocolate making. Following her passing, continuing this meticulous, beautiful work became my way of honoring her enduring spirit. Every single batch we create at The Tempered Rose is hand-tempered with the same fiery dedication and precision she taught me.​While my professional journey involved spending years working in K-12 and higher education, those demanding roles instilled in me a deep commitment to detail and structure - qualities that are absolutely essential to the sweet, precise craft of confectionery. My heart always found its way back to the kitchen. When I’m not perfecting a ganache or shaping bonbons, I’m navigating life with my wonderful fiancé (my best friend since high school) and our beloved Lab mix, Finley.​This company is built on patience, attention to detail, and a whole lot of love - the same ingredients that make a perfect truffle, and a great life.
